Break the data silos

Use case driven centralized data integration.

I created the product vision to rethink the onboarding experience, providing a centralized approach for data integration, allowing users to connect with all of their external data in one unified product.

During this project, I led the research effort to identify the experience gap and facilitated cross-team collaborations to affect the product roadmap of 2025-2026.

The key challenge of the current data integration experience is that users don't know which product to use for data integration.

Fragmented data integration workflow across multiple products

While Splunk provides multiple products for users to connect and access their external data, what they really need is a cohesive ecosystem to manage all the data without having to pick a specific one.

User needs for a cohesive data ecosystem

The current model of data integration needs to be changed. Splunk needs to shift strategy from product based approach to use case driven approach.

Strategy shift from product-based to use-case-driven integration

The product vision showcases the use case driven approach to centralize data integration in one unified product.

Centralized management — a centralized data integration page to manage all types of integration.

Use case guided onboarding — recommend the integration methods for onboarding based on the selected use cases.

Unified creation — one single flow to cover both the connection and dataset creation.
